Learning to sew

Since I have been planning for the “Hack your clothes” class at MAHC, the kids have become interested in learning to sew.  We started out with a simple finger puppet. Then D announced he wanted to make some Christmas gifts. We browse online till he found an image of a mitten ornament that he liked.  We drew out a pattern and got to work.

The machine I have is pretty powerful, but he did great with the pedal. I gave him support turning corners but overall he did well.  And, of course, E joined in making 2 ornaments to give.

D announced to me later, “I love learning the things that grown-ups do. It makes me want to do them all the time!”
